My waist is 38.5 inches.. i’m 19.

And according to "http://www.linear-software.com/online.html".
My body fat is around 26%. I’d like to be around 10% by the end of May, which leaves me with roughly 14 weeks.

For the last 4 months i’ve been getting my body into kick-ass shape mode. I’ve got a heart-rate monitor & 3 local YMCA gym facilities at my use.

For the last week i’ve been waking up and doing 20 minutes of high-intense-interval-training. I eat a healthy fiber breakfast, my snacks are 150 total calories or so of veggies, fruits, and nuts. My dinners consist of a stir fry with low-calorie dense foods + a lean meat.

Daily I take a multi vitamin, Coq10, vitamin C, Glucosamine, Calcium/Zinc/VitamnD, flax-seed oil, Cranberry extract soft-tablet and a Pomegranate soft-tablet.

Latley my workouts have been looking like:
Mon: (am) HIIT————(pm) rest
Tues: (am) HIIT———–(pm) CORE + 1h of yoga
Wed: (am) CORE———–(pm) Weights for upper body.
Thur: (am) HIIT————–(pm) rest
Fri: (am) HIIT————–(pm) rest
Sat: (am) Core————-(pm) Weights for lower body
Sun: Rest———————-Rest

^ With this workout i was losing 3 lbs every 2 weeks.

If I change my workout to:
Latley my workouts have been looking like:
Mon: (am) HIIT————(pm) HIIT + CORE
Tues: (am) HIIT———–(pm) HIIT + 1h of yoga
Wed: (am) CORE———–(pm) Weights for upper body.
Thur: (am) HIIT————–(pm) HIIT
Fri: (am) HIIT————–(pm) HIIT
Sat: (am) Core+Cardio–(pm) Weights for lower body
Sun: (am) HIIT———————-Rest

MY hiit workouts consist of about 6-10 20 second sprints, no more than 30 second rests, keeping my HR in the 70-85 percentile.

Once again, with a routine change, does it seem like a possibility of losing 14-16% body fat in 14 weeks?

Buying a Heart Rate Monitor?

the heart rate monitors ive seen on ebay say that it only asks for age, weight, and sex. would those 3 be enough to accurately measure my calories burned? shouldnt height be in there as well?

im only buying the ones on ebay or amazon cuz im a little short on the cash atm.

thanks!

BTW: im doing the insanity workouts so i need to see how much calories ive burned so i can document it, etc.

Under the options to check calories burned, it appears as the value (example 350), then kC? Is this calories or kilocalories or what? Is there a difference?

Do competitive swimmers have high heart rates?

I am a competitive swimmer and have been for about 4 years. We are doing fitness in gym, and after a 10 minute run my heart rate was higher than it’s supposed to be. Maybe I miscounted, but I was wondering if swimmers have higher heart rates than people who don’t swim. (I swim about 6 hours a week)

How do u calculate how many calories you burn?

Why am I not losing weight?

I’ve been exercising for 2 weeks now for at least 40 minutes a day –15 minutes on the stair master and 30-60 minutes on elipticals. I was told there was little use in weight training before I shave off the fat by doing cardio so I focus on cardio. I have a heart rate monitor that tells me my heart rate is about 175-185 per session for the whole duration. I am 225lbs and 21 years old. I write down a log of every calorie I eat. According to my BMR, my body ingests 2200 per day for maintenance so I shaved off 600 each day to lose at least 1lb of fat per week. I drink at least 64 oz of water a day. I am at a loss for words because I have been putting a lot of effort into this diet and exercise plan. So far I have only lost 1lb. What is going on?

It was the livestrong challenge in philly. The course had a good bit of hills. My monitor seemed to be keeping time and mileage accurately. This just seems high but I have never gone quite this long so not sure if its normal.

I’m been a real fitness freak for the last 5 yrs, i run every morning & i was professionally boxing for 3 yrs, but during this whole time I’ve never really experimented with heart rate’s & pedometers(not sure if that has anything do with it). Could somone please explain to me the basics of checking your heart rate while running, how to do it, what numbers i should be aiming for. I need all the help now since i’ve stop boxing & major training seasons, i want to keep my body in shape.
i’m 84 – 85kgs, 6 feet tall. atm if that helps

Help, Please!?

I know you can buy pedometers and heart rate monitors, but can you buy something similar that can count calories burned?

If yes, what is that called?

Thanks!

High heart rate when running?

Hi all i got a heart rate monitor for my birthday and i was started using it when i’m jogging but for some reason it says that my heart rate is 300 beats per minute is this normal. At rest my heart rate is 50 beats per minute.

I have been on a health plan for about four months now. I am trying to lose weight and so far have been successfull by exercise and using weight-watchers ( I’ve lost 32lbs!). But for the last month and a half now I havent droped a pound. I want to start counting calories instead of weight watchers ( to mix things up a little). Can any one help me figure out how many calories I need and if on my non active days I need to change how many calories I consume?
Current weight : 195
Height: 5’10
Sex: F
Exercise : 55 minutes of high intensity interval cardio training
20 minutes stair stepper : 4 miles 180 calories burned
15 minutes jogging : 1.25 miles Av.speed 5.8 calories burned 200
20 minutes eliptical : 1.50 miles calories burned 145
Weight training : 45 minutes I usually burn about 300 cals doing this. I dont want to go through all of the diffrent exercies I do it takes to long.
I use a heart rate monitor to measure my heart rate and calories burned it has my weight, age and height programed into it..and a chest strap for accuracy.
When I get home Im usually clean the house a little and spend the rest of the day doing homework and taking care of kids.
I do this 5 days a week and take a break on saturday and sunday.
Can anyone help me figure out how many calories I should be consuming to lose weight and if I need to change that number on the days im sedentary?
Thanks for all your help !

Irregular Irregular heart beat?

My girlfriend has a irregular irregular heart rhythm and I have a few questions.

When we work out on exercise equipment that measures heart rate, it says her heart is beating pretty fast, like in the 160s fast. But when I feel her pulse it dosen’t feel so fast.
1.) Do those machines account for arhythemias?
2.) Are there any special heart monitors I should buy her? (please send link)
3.) Sometimes she says her heart beats really fast for about 2 seconds. usually this isnt during exercise. Should anything be done about that?

Thanks for your help.

How are the following different or better?

CONSTANT EFFORT: Perform an aerobic exercise for one hour maintaining an aerobic heart rate the whole time.

VARIED EFFORT: Perform an aerobic exercise for one hour maintaining an aerobic heart rate but periodically increasing effort to a sprint.

According to a Yahoo "self-editor"

http://health.yahoo.com/experts/healthieryou/5155/fast-workouts-that-really-work/

"You can get an hour’s worth of fitness and calorie burning in 20 short minutes." The article continues:

Pick any cardio you like (running, swimming, the elliptical trainer). Warm up for 2 minutes at a moderate pace, then sprint for 30 seconds at the highest intensity you can muster. Slow down and do 90 seconds at a catch-your-breath recovery pace. Repeat eight times. You’ll torch more calories in less time, while you burn fat faster."

Haha im freaked out by them lol.
So im having shoulder stabilisation surgery and didnt know whether ill be hooked up to 1 overnight.
My surgery is at 7 A.M.
Thanks in advance!

What is a good heart rate monitor?

I’m not a hard-core exerciser- just looking for a way to see that I’m in my target zone during cardio. I used to have one that strapped around my waist and sent the rate message to my wrist band. But I don’t need something fancy.

Do you use one yourself? I’m not looking to spend a lot.

Thanks!

What other medical instruments are there?

Hi I was wondering what other instruments you can use to measure bodily responses, apart from a heart rate monitor. Are there any other devices which may measure things like heart rate, blood pressure etc…

Where can I buy these also? I need them for a project I am planning with Max/MSP or else PD

High Intensity vs. Low Intensity?

I got a really nice heart rate monitor recently and have been using it during different types of workouts to see how they vary. I know what high and low intensity training generally means, but I don’t really know all the schematics of them. I just always thought that the harder you work yourself during a workout, the more calories you burn…but that’s not necessarily what my heart rate monitor tells me.

I do cardio workouts every morning, but I alternate between HIIT and LIIT. One day I will get on the elliptical and go 3 or 4 minutes intervals that keep my heartrate between 120 and 150; I do this for 45 minutes. Then the next day I have a spin/cycle class I go to that incorporates the HIIT that keeps my heartrate above 160 or so; this is also a 45 minute workout. So after doing this for the past week or so I have noticed that on the days I have my low intensity workouts, I only burn within 100 calories less then I do on the days I have the high intensity workouts.

Can someone tell him how that works? I mean on the days I’m on the elliptical I almost feel like it’s too easy and I’m wasting my time….but then when I’m at my spin class I’m sweating up a storm! How are the caloric results so close?

I’ve searched the internet a bit and found that a lot of people believe what I had originally thought; that higher intensity equals higher calories burned. But this is proven to not be the case and that both high and low intensity training burns about the same. But can someone tell me how this works??
***I understand that heart rate monitors can’t be 100% accurate, but if the figures are consistently that close together; that should be a close indication of what it really is. It wouldn’t make sense that the actual numbers would be opposite extremes….the LIIT calories burned are actually a lot lower and the HIIT calories burned are actually a lot higher? Where is the logic in that? And I would like to hope that my 0 heart rate monitor is AT LEAST going to give me a good estimate….

I am a runner and I am looking for one of those heart rate monitor watch. Any idea where I could purchase one under 0? Thanks

resting heart rate-bradycardia?

so i asked this question about my heart rate-http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Am7_2yJZB7wy0Qi1XcgSkwTsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080209090724AA0PdYt

and people said i could have bradycardia because my pulse (took it with 2 fingers on my wrist and neck, and had someone else do it) and it was constantly 47-50bpm. should i be concerned? like should i go see my doctor or is it no big deal? as for fitness i guess i am pretty fit-i am on the long distance track team (5miles a day-5days a weeks, 8miles-1 day) and i play field hockey and normal "daily exercise"

Do I have an arrhythmia, nervous system problem?

Six weeks ago I had a tachy brought on by lack of sleep (50 hrs) and taking in tons of caffeine (1600mg in 12 hrs). I have been to tons of doctors, cardiologists, oncologists and have been through tons of tests. The only thing they have found so far is a slight mitral valve leak. This could not be causing my heart rate to jump from 60-65 at rest to 100-110 as soon as I stand up. My heart races with minimal physical exertion and all they found with all these tests was a slight valve leak? I bought a heart rate monitor and found the 40 to 50 beat jump on my own. I have told every doctor I have seen about this before testing it on my own and none of them has been concerned about it. They are telling me that I am in perfect health and do not have an arrhythmia. Could I have messed up my nervous system? When my heart started beating really fast I thought I was having a heart attack and panicked. I have read that going through trauma like that can cause this. Thoughts?
if you want to know more about this then read my previous questions. thanks.

I personally feel that I now have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, just need to convince my doctors to test me for it.
I cut caffeine, sugar, all stimulants six weeks ago. I know that I am not going to die, the kind doctors already told me that. I just want to know if my sympathetic nervous system is capable of calm, ing down over time or if I permanently damaged it.
After the nasty response from the guy who thinks I am imagining this problem I will clarify this a little. Before six weeks ago I had zero medical problems. I only stayed awake for so long because my job required it and only had so much caffeine to stay awake. I have tried to ignore the symptoms I am having, but guess what, they aren’t going away. My doctors have acknowledged my symptoms, they are having a hard time finding the CAUSE. Like I said, my resting HR is 60-65, I stand up and it shoots to 100-110, even light work causes it to be around 120. I had none of these problems before my incident of tachycardia.

What is a good yet cheap heart rate monitor?

I’m not going to use one for working out. The machines at the gym do that for me. I need a monitor to be able to keep track of my heart rate at any time of the day so I can easily check it. Something I can wear everyday and check my heart rate at a push of a button. Also one that will fit as I am a very petite woman. Thanks!
