I can improve my aerobic fitness by doing moderate activity 5+ days a week, and vigorous exercise 3-4 days a week. For moderate activity I can do some fast walking, slow swimming, bicycling. Something to increase my heart rate and increase my breathing. For the vigorous I can jog, bicycling, or aerobics. An activity that speeds my heart rate and breathing up to high levels. At least 30 minutes of exercise is needed, that can be broken up into smaller sessions. I need to start out with a warm up and finish with a cool down. And the exercise needs to include the large muscle groups, like the arms and legs

need to exercise at least three days a week to improve my muscular strength. By repeating the same exercise or working against a heavier load, keeping the repetitions the same. Doing a half set up with my arm’s behind my head creates a heavier load. Doing traditional push ups or some against the wall is suggested as well. Maintain proper posture during movements while keep the movements controlled, and varying the intensity. I need to Work my way up to three sets of movements, 25 half sit-ups and 10-20 push-ups, breaking them up into smaller sets. Using equipment such as balance balls, barbells, or elastic tubing are suggested as well.

I can improve my flexibility by planing a program of stretching exercise that involves most of my
joints, at least three days a week. Include static stretching such as hurdler’s stretch, spinal twist,
or a doorframe hamstring stretch. I need to take the stretches to the point of tension not pain,
holding each stretch for 10-30 seconds, repeating one or two more times. I can eventually work my
way up to dynamic stretches. Which include the double hip rotation, shoulder stretch, neck
rotation, or the alternative hamstring stretch.

I used to have one but it burned up the batteries fast, to the point where i changed them so much, the watch stopped working. The man at the jeweler warned me that with those watches, once you change the battery they may not run anymore. Anyways am looking for one under 0. Just need the GPS, don’t need the heart rate monitor or anything fancy. Ok thanks!

Hook: (the importance of the cardiovascular system and fitness):
The way to fitness is not an simple one, especially not within your body.
Fitness requires exercise, and exercise in turn, requires a sufficient supply of oxygen, and nutrients to the muscles.
The cardiovascular system is the means of which oxygen and nutrients travel to the muscles.
The more efficient that oxygen distribution in your body is, the more fit you are,
which means that Your heart is effectively delivering oxygen throughout your body.
When you are fit, your body can move more oxygen per pump than if you were not physically active.
To keep your lungs, heart, and body in good shape, you should exercise three days a week, for half an hour.

I am 21. Im 5’8”and I weigh 220 pounds (gasp!)
I am trying to lose 80 pounds by June 2011.
Currently I am going to the Gym 2 times a day. Each Time, I run on the elliptical for 30 minutes. I plan on bumping up the time by 15 minutes each week. I also usually do the 30 minute circuit training at Planet Fitness. My heart rate is up the entire time. If I dont do the 30 minute circuit training, I will usually just work on the machines for about 30 minutes focusing on arms, legs, etc depending on the day.

I am just wondering if my goal is too high for this kind of routine. I have been at it for about a week now, and I havent lost a single pound. And my measurements are still all the same.
Also any tips for making my routine more effective would be amazing!
Thanks!
Also, I am watching what I eat. I even stopped drinking soda :)
For example, I ate a turkey wrap with no cheese or mayo, etc for lunch
and a salad with fat free dressing for dinner with grilled chicken

Possible sources of error in lab?

This experiment was conducted to answer the question “What factors affect heart rate?”. In particular, this experiment endeavoured to find out the effect of mammalian diving reflex on heart rate. In this lab, a girl’s head was submerged in water. While she held her breath and stayed underwater for 20 seconds, her pulse was carefully monitored for any sudden decreases. The dependant variable was heart rate and the independent variable was time, measured in seconds. A heart rate monitor was used to increase accuracy. The girl was asked to repeat this procedure ten times, with the time interval between each “dive” being four minutes. Other constants include the temperature of water (5℃), air pressure, and the mass of the girl. Where could we have made an error?!

Can you recommend any?
Prefferable not more expensive than 0.

The website says it’s for all fitness levels, but I’m not so sure. I did Bellydance for a while in high school and it was REALLY tough. I tried to learn Hula dancing which is similar and it was freaking impossible. I’m trying to imagine what Cardio bellydance would be since the bellydancing I did didn’t even raise my heart rate.

Has anyone done anything like this?

Polar employee and multisport athlete uses an RS800CX to train for his first Ironman race. Find out how training with heart rate helped him accomplish his goal and complete the race in just over 11 hours. This is Friday, November 5, the day before Ironman, Panama City. What are your expectations for tomorrow? Just to have fun and finish. Alright, say goodnight Dave! Goodnight. I’ll see you at 2 in the morning to start eating. My name is Dave Thompson. I’m from Long Island, New York, and I completed the 2010 Ironman Florida in 11 hours, 7 minutes and 18 seconds. When I was in high school I competed on the cross country team, and I also lifeguarded during the summer, so I had a pretty extensive run and swim background. Then, as soon as I got out of high school, I started competing in more road races and longer distance events. I always wanted to compete in the ironman. It was always on my to do list. I never thought it was a possibility until I completed a couple of marathons. And then when I was getting a little bit better on the bike, I started going for those 100 mile rides, and then it really became clear that I could just put it all together. When you try to tackle events such as an ironman, I don’t think it’s possible to do it without the support of your coworkers, your family and your friends. It’s a tremendous sacrifice. I started working for Polar in an industry I’m passionate about and that I love. It’s really helped me to excel and kind of put my passion and my

Philips Healthcare has alerted healthcare professionals about the possibility of inaccurate fetal heart rate readings from the company’s Avalon fetal monitors, which use ultrasound to measure fetal heart rate. Inaccurate readings could result in unneeded interventions, failure to take a needed intervention, or failure to identify fetal distress. The affected Avalon models are the FM20, FM30, FM40 and FM50 with the ultrasound transducer. Inaccuracies occur mainly during the second stage of labor, and include halving or doubling of the fetal heart rate, and switching between the fetal and maternal heart rates. The company recommends several steps to help reduce risk. For example, continue to confirm that the fetus is the source of the heartbeat while the monitor is in use, especially if abrupt changes occur. If in doubt, consider monitoring the maternal heart rate or using a fetal scalp electrode.

Never stop to check your heart rate again. With the AquaPulse™ Heart Rate Monitor your current heart rate is verbally announced while you swim. Simply slip the AquaPulse inside your goggle strap, attach the soft rubber clip to your earlobe, and go swim. Using an infrared sensor to monitor capillary blood flow, your heart beat is detected through your earlobe. The heart rate is then audibly communicated to you in real time, where the information is transmitted directly to your inner ear via Bone Conduction Technology. No ear buds, cumbersome chest straps, or watch devices are needed. The heart rate announcements are made regularly in 20-second, 30-second, 45-second, 1-minute, 2-minute or 5-minute increments. Push the “Instant Heart Rate” button to hear your last reading again. Complete with a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, you can use the AquaPulse from five to eight hours depending on the interval setting. Simply plug the integrated USB directly into a USB port on your computer to recharge.

It seems to me that you would loose more weight by working harder and increasing your heart rate into the cardio zone thus burning more calories.

If thats the case why is the lower heart rate zone called the weight loss zone.

In which zone will I get better results with weight loss around the waste?

Target Heart Rate?

How do I stay in my target heart rate zone? It’s supposed to be 140-150 but it always drops after a few seconds according to the monitor I’m using on my treadmill, how do I prevent it from lowering?
I’m talking about the target heart rate zone, I’m supposed to be doing 140-150 to lose weight but it always drops after a few seconds.

I’m 17, 5’9" and weigh about 188. I have lost almost 20 pounds in my first month of P90X (if you are wondering if it works, the answer is hell yes) and I have been told by online body fat percentage calculators that I have about 24-25%. I have no idea how accurate they are but they are what I’m basing it on. I didn’t check it before i lost the weight so I don’t know how much lower it is now. So my question is, how long might it take for me to drop it a few percents? I’m eating like 1500 – 2000 calories a day (super clean I might add) and burning a lot with the P90X doubles. I bought a heart rate monitor and it said that I burnt like close to 5000 calories in one day ( I have a very hard time believing that). Not looking for anything exact, just a rough estimation on how long it might take for me to lose some of those points. Thanks in advance guys.
