Heart Rate Monitors and Fat Burning
Hello; I’m trying to buy a Strapless Heart Rate Monitor Watch for my running routine. I’m looking for something that tracks your distance, read your calories burned, and target zone, and the most important no chest belt required. Can somebody recommend me one that really works? Thank You.

Hi there,
In the past three months I have lost 20 lbs. I work out for 30 minutes a day for 4-5 days a week (pretty strenuous) by doing the Biggest Loser DVDs. I have cut out all the bad crap out of my diet – no soft drinks, less red meat, I hardly ever eat potatoe’s now. Cut out fast food. I have 30 more lbs to loose, so I am far from fit.
I used to have a fairly high heart rate when I would visit the Dr. usually over 100. I recently started monitoring calories burned, ect and over the past few days my heart has consistently been beating at 50 or 51 ?
Is this normal for someone who isn’t physically fit?
www.myosource.com The key to burning calories , burning fat and losing weight is to maximize the benfits of your workouts. Increasing your heart rate to burn calories and reach that fat buring zone is the goal. The Kinetic Bands target your hips, thighs, butt and legs while providing a grea cardio effect and increasing your heart rate to reach the fat burn zone.
The maximum I’m going to spend is 0.
I want a watch that doesn’t require a chest strap.
I would like the calories that are burned to be measured by my heart rate for an accurate reading also one that let’s u set ur weight and height (if possible).
And if possible to track the distance I run accurately.
If anyone has a personal experience with a watch I’m describing, please share:)
Thank you:)
Can someone please provide a link or info to a heart rate monitor watch that calculates steps, calories and heart rate with entering in your height and weight? I have a Sportline watch that I bought at Walmart for 0 that doesnt require me entering in my height and weight and I am a little uncertain about the accuracy of the calories burned reading. It uses pulse technology.
Hi. Im 16 and a half. I run a lot. This time i ran i used my dads heart rate monitor. My average heart rate was 165 beats per min. The highest i got up to was 200 b/min. I ran for 45 Min’s really hard (for me). Although it was comfortable because i am used to running. At the end of my run it said i only burnt 355 calories. I weigh 57kgs. I am trying to lose 2 kgs. My goal weight is 55kgs.
1. How can i lose weight if it says i burn only 355 Cal’ss for the run and i eat around 1200 Cal’s a day???
2. Could this calorie counter be false?
This is really annoying me because i am trying to lose weight and i eat so healthy and excersise. But at this calorie burning rate…i really dont know what to say..its really dissapointing. And i try so hard.
Please answer my Q’s!
Thanks
So you just got home with your brand new heart rate monitor and not sure what to do next. Heart rate training can be an important part of any workout program, but like most new training tools if you are not using the tool correctly you could have trouble fully maximizing it. So in this document we pulled together some information and links from PolarUSA.com to get you started. Introduction to Heart Rate Based Training If you are new to exercising, I can almost guarantee you are wondering how much and in which intensities you should train. If you go too hard and you run the risk of burning yourself out quickly. If you go too slow you may not see results. The key is to find the balance between exercise and recovery, and the best way to gauge that is a heart rate monitor. Take a look at the following links to get you started: Intro to Heart Rate Training – bit.ly Structure of A Workout Session – bit.ly Aerobic and Anaerobic Exercise – bit.ly Part of finding that balance is to understand and utilize different heart rate zones based on your personal goals. Polar has a few unique features built into certain training computers that help you find these zones, like Energy Pointer(FT7,FT40) and Ownzone(FT60,FT80). But if you aren’t using these “Own” features you can still take advantage training zones. Calculating Maximum Heart Rate The first thing to do would be to find your Maximum Heart rate(MHR). You have a few different options for calculating MHR. 220 — age is a common …
Im looking for a indoor Heart rate monitor that counts calories during my crossfit workouts and all I want is a chest trap and not with a foot pod.
I really would like to know which is better. I want to know how much calories I’m burning when I exercise so that’s my main concern. I have no idea really and just make estimates due to whatever is written or what others say who do the same ones. But sometimes I can’t find anything on it. It would be a lot more motivating to exercise if I knew.
Which one would be better or are there any other options that would tell me how much caloreis I burnt? I’ve been researching them online and the only reason I don’t like the Bodybugg is because it’s so expensive but it seems better than the Heart rate monitor. though I don’t know which is more accurate? I never used any so all help is appreciated ![]()
This heart rate monitor watch will track the calories you burn and those you eat, all without wearing a chest strap!
I’m looking for a heart rate monitor that I’m not sure exists. I want a strapless model that continulously measures my heart rate (I’m not sure if this can even be achieved) that has a pedometer, calories burned and can be worn as a watch. I could deal with it not measuring my heart rate continulously if it gave me an accurate calorie count, but I don’t want to wear a strap.
Using a POLAR heart rate monitor, calculating calories burned for my height and weight playing light basketball. This equates to about 2000 CALORIES BURNED in a two hour period. note: 1 lb = 3500 cal Your metabolic rate depends on your weight and height, this total with the calories you burn from exercise, menus calorie intake from food (fuel) = calories burned for the day. This simple equation can help you determine how much weight you can lose within a week or a month etc with an exercise routine and diet. Outdoor temperature this day was around 90+ location, Richmond Hill, New York; Forest Park, Jackson Pond. By doing this last summer (summer of 2010) i shed over 40lbs with a low calorie diet. It seems to me that you would loose more weight by working harder and increasing your heart rate into the cardio zone thus burning more calories.
If thats the case why is the lower heart rate zone called the weight loss zone.
In which zone will I get better results with weight loss around the waste?
I’m 17, 5’9" and weigh about 188. I have lost almost 20 pounds in my first month of P90X (if you are wondering if it works, the answer is hell yes) and I have been told by online body fat percentage calculators that I have about 24-25%. I have no idea how accurate they are but they are what I’m basing it on. I didn’t check it before i lost the weight so I don’t know how much lower it is now. So my question is, how long might it take for me to drop it a few percents? I’m eating like 1500 – 2000 calories a day (super clean I might add) and burning a lot with the P90X doubles. I bought a heart rate monitor and it said that I burnt like close to 5000 calories in one day ( I have a very hard time believing that). Not looking for anything exact, just a rough estimation on how long it might take for me to lose some of those points. Thanks in advance guys.
I have 7 weeks and 7kg to lose until i meet my goal weight.
I am 62kg or 137lbs.
I am 16yrs old.
I am 160cm or 5’2.5".
Using a Polar heart rate monitor everyday I burn on average 2000 – 2100 calories a day because I lead a reasonably active lifestyle and do regular exercise. I understand I need to eat a minimum of 1200 calories a day. If I eat 1200 calories and burn 2200 calories (during the time I wear my HRM which is 8am – 9pm). Will I lose approximately 1kg or 2.2lbs a week? I want to do this the healthy way. Would this put my body into starvation mode? If I follow this will I be sucessful? What changes can or should I make to this?
Thanks

i’m just starting to workout again after a few month delay due to medical reasons. anyway, i just started walking. i walk only about a half hour for 3-5 days a week. i’m planning to add 5 minutes every week. so since this week is almost ending next week i will workout for 35 minutes a day and so on and so forth. i also want to add my stability ball workout and pilates to the routine. both have weight bearing excercises within the dvds. on the days where it rains, i’m going to use my cardio dvds. eventually i want to have a plan of 5 days for about an hour. i’m working my way up to jogging but that’s going to take time. since i started my walking though i’ve noticed a soreness in my legs which is letting my know i’m walking at a good pace. but is this a good plan? i use a heart rate monitor and it says i’m burning roughly 300 calories, is that enough?
oh i’m 24 and weigh over 200 pounds. glad to say i don’t have high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol. i just got checked for all, guess i can say i’m lucky not to have that.
sorry i forgot to mention my diet is pretty good. i’m a vegetarian and eat alot of veggie based products. whole grains, fennel, tofu and vegetables. i cut down on the snacks and rarely drink soda or high fructose drinks. mostly crystal light, water and i do drink skim milk.
i can’t afford a trainer so i thats why i’m doing my own thing. my doctor is worried about my weight and wants to see a small difference in two months when i go there.
I purchased a MIO motion HRM yesterday. I love that it doesn’t require a chest strap and that it took into account my gender, age, etc. However, the instructions say that it only measures calorie expenditure based on the pedometer. I would like one that measures calories based on HR since running is not my only form of exercise (elliptical, bike etc). Recommendations?
Win a heart rate monitor!
Online calculators estimate my calories burned at between 700-900 calories per 60 minutes on the stationary bike. The bike itself says 200-300. I used a heart rate monitor last night and it gave me a reading of 803 (which is much closer to what the online calculators are saying). So, which one do I believe? The HRM goes off of my heart rate whereas the bike just goes on the amount of miles I’ve gone. I normally do about 24 miles in an hour so it’s pretty vigorous. Any suggestions on which one I should trust? I don’t want to overeat but I certainly don’t want to under eat either (which is what I think is happening since I’ve been calculating my calories based on the bike readings). Any suggestions?
There are so many out there, all with mixed reviews, I just don’t know which to try. I am looking for a HRM that does a continuous rate, that calculates burned calories, and that you can input your age, gender, weight and height. It of course also needs to be reliable. Any suggestions?
I wore my heart rate monitor and separate pedometer while doing a very hard 3.5 hike/trail run and the readings for calories burned are coming up drastically different. Heart monitor says 900 and pedometer says 300. I entered all the information into both – age, weight, female. Am I doing something wrong?
I did some research and wanted a heart rate monitor that would calculate calories burned but also would give me speed and distance so when I’d go for runs, and didn’t already know mileage then I’d know. I went to Dicks sporting goods and they suggested Sportline Duo 1060, although it’s great does everything I want it to do and more, it’s confusing to use and don’t know truly know if the calorie (which reads in kc) or if the heart rate is accurate. I really need and want an accurate heart rate and calories burned monitor, I mainly do spinning and running for cardio. I’ve been also suggested Timex Ironmen Road or Race Trainer. Any suggestions??
My diet consists of a lot of protein and complex carbs, very little sugar and no saturated fat. I cook with olive oil and that’s where most of my fat comes from.
Now, I’ve been monitoring my calorie loss by my heart rate monitor, and I just calculated that between March 9th and March 22nd, I’ve lost 9,023 calories.
I work out every day and the average calorie loss in one workout is about 650 calories.
My totally calorie intake is about 2000 a day. I use the LiveStrong.com food diary and calculator to figure it out.
Since I am going at it every day and losing many calories as you can see, is it really possible for me to drop significant weight from this point on?
I think I can.
But, based on my own calculations and food intake, what do you think?
Is 9,023 calorie loss a lot in that matter of time.
By the way, I don’t feel deprived whatsoever. I make sure I am never hungry and that I am comfortably full.
I also don’t eat past 6-7pm.
I drink about 64oz of water a day.
@Crazy Arab…WTF are you talking about I don’t respect my health??? I effing told you I eat about 2000 calories a day! If you can’t answer my question….then don’t answer my goddamn question…..loser..
Also, my BMR is supposed to be around 1500 calories in one day…which is correct?
1)how effective is the orbitrek in fitness terms?
2)which is better; 30 mins on the orbitrek or 30 mins jogging? or same?
3)does the orbitrek have any fitness benefits or does it just simply get your heart rate up and burn calories? if i used the orbitrek would it make me fitter running on the ground?
I am looking for a strapless heart rate monitor that also tells calories burned. I am doing the P90X workout and want to keep track. It doesn’t have to be fancy and hopefully not terribly expensive. Needs to have the following 3 things:
Strapless
Heart rate
Calories burned.
Thanks!
