In the past three months I have lost 20 lbs. I work out for 30 minutes a day for 4-5 days a week (pretty strenuous) by doing the Biggest Loser DVDs. I have cut out all the bad crap out of my diet – no soft drinks, less red meat, I hardly ever eat potatoe’s now. Cut out fast food. I have 30 more lbs to loose, so I am far from fit.
I used to have a fairly high heart rate when I would visit the Dr. usually over 100. I recently started monitoring calories burned, ect and over the past few days my heart has consistently been beating at 50 or 51 ?
Is this normal for someone who isn’t physically fit?

Using a POLAR heart rate monitor, calculating calories burned for my height and weight playing light basketball. This equates to about 2000 CALORIES BURNED in a two hour period. note: 1 lb = 3500 cal Your metabolic rate depends on your weight and height, this total with the calories you burn from exercise, menus calorie intake from food (fuel) = calories burned for the day. This simple equation can help you determine how much weight you can lose within a week or a month etc with an exercise routine and diet. Outdoor temperature this day was around 90+ location, Richmond Hill, New York; Forest Park, Jackson Pond. By doing this last summer (summer of 2010) i shed over 40lbs with a low calorie diet. For details on my diet plan contact me – elvisuptown.blogspot.com
The human hearts healthy heart beat is 60 – 80 beats per minute. If you an athlete it can go as low as 40. If your an anorexic, it can go as low as 40.
I’m 23 years old. I’m 5’4, and 115 pounds. I do not work out. I walk to work every day, in total it adds up to walking 2 miles a day. I’ve been doing this for 9 months. I also work as a truck unloader. I lift, push, and pull heavy things 4 days a week. This has not made a difference in muscle, fat or weight. It also has never made a difference with my heart rate. If anything it made it worse. Every day after work, it takes till I fall asleep and wake for my heart to be calm again. It was like this up until yesterday.
My heart rate has always been in the 70′s (wore a heart monitor 3 days once) and whenever I eat it shoots my heart rate up to 100 or over (tachycardia).
Yesterday after work, I sat down, and my heart rate immediately dropped to 55 beats a minute. It freaked me out and I was convinced it was making me dizzy (it wasn’t though.) And again, today, I just sat down after work and my heart rate is immediately down to 55. How after 9 months having a heart rate of 77 after work, suddenly drop to 55. Should I see a doctor? Does it have to do with blood pressure issues?
All I know is I do not eat healthy at all. I eat way too much sugary junk food and fatty stuff. I’m not over weight (almost under weight) but my diet is very poor. I hope this has nothing to do with it.
I’m also on my period which usually causes my heart rate to go up as well.

My diet consists of a lot of protein and complex carbs, very little sugar and no saturated fat. I cook with olive oil and that’s where most of my fat comes from.
Now, I’ve been monitoring my calorie loss by my heart rate monitor, and I just calculated that between March 9th and March 22nd, I’ve lost 9,023 calories.
I work out every day and the average calorie loss in one workout is about 650 calories.
My totally calorie intake is about 2000 a day. I use the LiveStrong.com food diary and calculator to figure it out.
Since I am going at it every day and losing many calories as you can see, is it really possible for me to drop significant weight from this point on?
I think I can.
But, based on my own calculations and food intake, what do you think?
Is 9,023 calorie loss a lot in that matter of time.
By the way, I don’t feel deprived whatsoever. I make sure I am never hungry and that I am comfortably full.
I also don’t eat past 6-7pm.
I drink about 64oz of water a day.
@Crazy Arab…WTF are you talking about I don’t respect my health??? I effing told you I eat about 2000 calories a day! If you can’t answer my question….then don’t answer my goddamn question…..loser..

jenniferburgessfitness.com As a personal trainer and Fitness Coordinator at a university, I get a lot of fitness questions. In this video, I cover the most common questions that I hear on a regular basis. What’s better – cardio or weight training? When should I work out? How often should I work out? What should I eat before a workout? How do I get rid of belly fat? What order should I work my muscle groups? And more! I have been taking cardio kickboxing and boxing at the LA Fitness for 6 months and have not lost weight. I drastically changed my diet by cutting fast food to once a weeks and eating non stop fruits and veggies an lost a pound or two. I take those classes 5 times a week and are vigorous because according to my heart rate moniter I peak at 90% max heart rate. Do I really have to do 50-60% max heart rate to lose weight when I burn more calories at 70-85% max heart rate?!?!?

I need to know my key heart rate for burning fat.I live in pensacola florida and have access to plenty of gyms but i haven’t lifted in id say two months but i play basketball every night for about two hours and i really need to get in shape i still have my baby-fat i guess lol and im 19 years old i just need to know what kind of workouts and activities i should do to work the chest and lose love handles and work on the stomach and just everything over all and how many calories should i eat a day to get on a good diet and how much sugar and ya know stuff like that i dont know im about to go buy a little heart rate watch monitor this weekend soo i just need to know some stuff
If I’m starting from scratch, never been a runner/jogger and have a good pair of running shoes and a heart rate monitor, will jogging/running produce weigh loss combined w/a good diet?
Just a little background, want to lose 50+ lbs, generally in good shape but I know running will kill me in the beginning. Just want to run a mile without stopping, and in a decent amount of time as my secondary goal. Should I try this or stick only to weight training to shed pounds?
Im within normal weight range for my height. I rejoined my gym in early April and since then, have gone up 4 pounds…I workout an hour cardio within my target heart range and do weight training and ab work for about 1/2 hour as laid out by a trainer. I burn about 700-800 calories according to my heart rate monitor…I consume 1250-1500 calories per day, a clean eating diet, no processed foods or white flours/sugars. HELP!!! I also notice that my abdominal area SEEMS more flabby…what the heck am I doing wrong???
Is this safe to sustain this for more than 1 hour? I am trying to condition my heart to become healthy. I am using a Polar heart rate monitor rs300x. I know the reading is accurate. I average 183 bpm. I want results fast hence the motivation to push myself. My goal is to be fit after 6 months of conditioning.
I’m progressively adding 1 minute of extra time each day of my running routine session.
My weight: 180
My height: 5 feet 7 inches
My age: 26
My diet: extremely balanced, moderate, and I include lots of variety.
My speed: 3.7-3.9 miles per hour according to the treadmill reading
My incline: 2.0
My motivation: I just became a licensed massage therapist and I realize I need to shape up if I want to have the energy to work 5 hour shifts of back to back sessions with clients. Also my end goal is to be fit enough to endure a double shift ( 10 hours worth of clients)
comments: I drink Gatorade at the gym & water when I’m at home. I sweat a lot during my exercise and often I have a small towel drenched from wiping my eyebrows down. I am considering bringing a 2nd headband to wrap around my forehead because the first one becomes saturated after 50 minutes.
update: I started using a treadmill with mini fans blowing air to my face which seems to help my body keep cool. Sweating less now.
I started exercising on a regular basis for the first time a couple years ago ( age 24). I have always been extremely unfit and overweight for my height. (5 foot 7 I’m 180)
This year is when I first started to implement a persistent hardcore serious exercise routine.
I am 29 yr old female, and I have recently started working out 5 days per week (up from my normal 3). I have begun to lose weight and inches, and my fat percentage is slowly going down as well. I am doing 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weight/circuit training per workout. I am wearing a heart rate monitor to make sure I keep my rate up to where it should be for optimal weight loss. I get home and I am SO TIRED and I have trouble getting up the next morning as well.
Someone suggested adding protein shakes to combat the fatigue,
when do I have the shakes, how much and how often! I am looking to tone, not bulk up!!!
I am following a diet high in fruit and fiber, and lean protein. I usually avoid breads and grains, and I eat many times throughout the day. (I am certainly not starving!)
I’m a 187lb 5′ 6" and 39 year old male. I recently started P90X, i have not worked out for a couple of years. I bought a heart rate monitor and I have noticed that my heart rate gets up to 170 bpm really quick and my resting heart rate stays above 100 bpm for a few hours after exercise. I feel fine but the the high resting heart rate concerns me. In the morning my resting heart rate is 68-75 bpm. I have had high blood pressure for a few years now and I know that a good diet and Cardio is the best way to bring the high bp down.. Should i be concerned or is it that im out of shape and my recovery heart rate is just going to get better?
